The SMERemediumCap investment fund, the first Greek Business Restructuring and Growth Investment Fund, has successfully completed the second and final closing of its fundraising process.

In the new capital increase, the European Investment Fund participated for the first time, alongside existing investors who increased their commitments.

On behalf of the investment team of the SMERemediumCap investment fund, Executive Chairman Nikos Karamouzis thanked the significant number of both new and existing investors for their trust in the initiative, noting that SMERemediumCap focuses its investment activity primarily on medium-sized Greek productive enterprises, which form the backbone of the Greek economy.

He emphasised that the fund’s core investment target is companies that, as a result of the Greek economic crisis of the previous decade and the recent pandemic, face liquidity constraints, limited scale and turnover, technological and managerial shortcomings, restricted access to international markets and operational stagnation, yet possess substantial growth and export potential. These are businesses capable of reaching optimal scale and capitalising on the new economic, growth and entrepreneurial environment that is emerging in Greece.

The investment team of SMERemediumCap has recently completed its first investment in the agricultural sector, a field offering significant investment opportunities, and will soon announce further investment initiatives. The fund’s objective remains to acquire equity stakes in 10–12 Greek companies with strong growth potential, unlocking their value and true underlying capabilities while upgrading their productive capacity and export orientation.
